One day a young man and woman were in their bedroom making love. All of a sudden a bumblebee entered the bedroom window.
As the young lady parted her legs the bee entered her vagina. The woman started screaming "Oh my God, help me, there's a bee in my vagina!" The husband immediately took her to the local Chinese doctor and explained the situation.
The doctor thought for a moment and said "Hmm, tricky situation. But I have a solution to the problem if young sir would permit." The husband being very concerned agreed that the doctor could use whatever method to get the bee out of his wife's vagina.
The doctor said "OK, what I'm gonna do is rub some honey over the top of my penis and insert it into your wife's vagina. When I feel the bee getting closer to the tip of my penis I shall withdraw it and the bee should hopefully follow my penis out of your wife's vagina. The husband nodded and gave his approval.
The young lady said "Yes, Yes, whatever, just get on with it." So the doctor, after covering the tip of his penis with honey, inserted it into the young lady's vagina.
After a few gentle strokes, the doctor said, "I don't think the bee has noticed the honey yet. Perhaps I should go a bit deeper." So the doctor went deeper and deeper. After a while the doctor began shafting the young lady very hard indeed. The young lady began to quiver with excitement. She began to moan and groan aloud.
The doctor, concentrating very hard, looked like he was enjoying himself, he then put his hands on the young lady's breasts and started making loud noises. The husband at this point suddenly became very annoyed and shouted, "Now wait a minute! What the Hell do you think you're doing?"
The doctor, still concentrating, replied, "Change of plan. I'm gonna drown the bastard!"

THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS THAT THE ATIWA FOREST IS LIKE THE WOMAN'S VAGINA,THE CHINESE DOCTOR COULD NOT SAVE HER BUT SHE DROWN THE BEE.

Mining in any part of the Atewa Forrest is a big no, no , no, no. In the past, our political leaders made similar arguments for surface mining in ANY PART of the country when the country was doing deep shaft mining.As usual, they came out with a lot of unscientific reasonings to support their positions.
Surface mining started with large mining companies in forest reserves, farmlands and even in living communities.Nobody listened to the pleads and scientific reasonings from both researchers and the local people. Later, small scale miners also started with the surface mining when they realized that the Minerals Commission and the Lands and Natural Resources officials were not monitoring and evaluating their activities. From small scale surface mining,then it graduated into galamsey with huge excavators in forest reserves and on water bodies. As for the effects and the impact of these activities on the environment, we are all witnesses? to the destruction. But initially, our political leaders told us that it was the best option for the country. Now the politicians are back again that they want to mine bauxite in the Atewa Forrest without destroy the flora, fauna and the sources of water bodies in our towns and cities.They can mine bauxite from other parts of the country but for Atewa Forrest, it's no, no, no, no.

After 300yrs of mining gold from Tarkwa and Obuasi worth billions and billions of dollars, these two gold mining towns looks worse than the average village in Ghana with huge social issues including high levels of teenage pregnancies, schooldropouts, crime rates, unemployment, HIV etc.

In 1803 when mining started in these communities, I'm sure they had the same argument that the people of the area would benefit from the billions of gold resource in that area. 300yrs later where is the benefit?

For his information, ecotourism centred on the Atewa Forest Reserve and its wooded off-reserve slopes, will create a green and sustainable local economy - creating wealth that stays in Ghana and jobs galore for our younger generations.

In 2016, Thailand made U.S.$71 billion (yes, billions, not millions!) from the 31 million visitors it hosted.

The question there is: What has Thailand got that Ghana doesn't have - by way of culture, beautiful ecotourism sites and a warm and welcoming population?

We have all the building blocks to enable us create a booming tourism sector - if only the blockheads amongst our educated urban elites would step out of the shadow of conventional economic thinking.

God give some of us patience.

The preservation of what is left of Akyem Abuakwa's natural heritage is non-negotiable - and the sooner these provincial-minded people understood that the better it will be for us all.
