How many countries on our continent with porous borders are doing this? The Ivorian president had problems for even having a burkinabe father. That's how much others value their citizenship. We are just giving ours away and devaluing it for political gains. The NPP was making noise about how Togolese were voting in our elections, now they are in power thet want more foreigners in.

E.g in S.Africa now, if you are not a citizen u cannot get a job in government as a teacher even if u have a green card. This is contrary to their own laws but they overlook what the law says. So in order to be able to work,u have to become a citizen.

I bet you bringing the hordes of intellectual minds in diaspora to bear on governance in Ghana will be a vital healing for the country. Nobody should tell me that the present crop of Ghanaian thieves and idiots in parliament are patriotic than those living outside. The diasporans could be the flashpoint for bringing sanity into government because they are morally and intellectually saner than the morons whose pedigree is tied to corruption only.

Chinese Americans are those who have change the economical,science,development face of their country. As to what Madam Hannah Tetteh said in her contribution, there are also at least 4 elected British M.Ps' and 1 other person in the British house of Lords who have Ghanaian heritage. The difference though is that they do not have dual citizenships, they are considered British citizens, period.
The issue is one of allegiance when it comes to political appointments and dual citizenship, and we need to differentiate heritage connection with citizenship, they are two different things.
