  Past governments are guilty for the poor performance of the Prison Service.For far too long the Prison Service in Ghana has been starved of the resources it needed to train prisoners to be law-abiding citizens and to play a positive role in the development of the nation when they are released.If the government has identified the lack of resources as the problem I hope it will as a matter of urgency make the needed resources available to it to initiate the reforms that will stop making prisons 'houses' for punishment.Our prisons are filthy,overcrowded and the food very bad.Prison service conditions should also be reviewed to attract top class prison officers ready to implement the much needed reforms. The ball is in the court of the government.
