Where in the world today could you transport such quantities of these poisons mercury , cyanide and such without it being monitored? Can China claim they didnt know? the bill to now sort out the sanitation , water cleaning and waste management is now over $ 40 billion DOLLARS. Why do we we need Chinese money when the American EXIM bank has publicly offered us tens of billions with the much needed technology yet they are ignored as only Chinese and arab/muslim money is acceptable? I have said many times that the corner stone of any country's development are the diaspora , check Germany Japan China etc but in our country infested by Islamic stupidity we have rather a whole ministry for Zongo stupidity instead of just deporting them.the pepeni /ayigbe conspirators together with their Muslim and Chinese allies continue unabated to destroy our Akanland and push our people into poverty under the watch of kwasiapsanyin Nana Addo. NDC lost the elections because most Akans and patriotic citizens realized this party does not appreciate or reflect the true interests of the people but rather its a mafia criminal organization that will cause the eventual bloodshed among our people. After the death /murder of Mills NDC lost all its appeal and there was no hope it would ever get back on the right track to serve the interests of the people.NDC is a disappointment and will end up on the landfill of rubbish organizations . NPP from the looks of things will most likely also be joining them soon and in their place the AKAN freedom movement will rise. Anytime an Akan actually does something good or worthy for the nation some pepeni , ayigbe , Muslim or some other minority comes and destroys everything dead, that is the fact. 58% of our bauxite was handed over as a step to colonize the wealth of the Akan , were in the world would a minority be given such privileges if it was not to undermine the majority. All natural resources should be nationalized including gold , then properly developed as sustainable businesses then privatized through a coupon system so all citizens become direct owners . The Engineers in Ghana should make sure we go for the standard / wide gauge which is more stable and used in the developed countries. We can thus buy trains and spare parts from the West or elsewhere instead of being monopolised by Russia, which uses the Narrow Gauge.

Care must be taken if we want to source rolling stock from modern standard international sources. It will be uneconomical to start with narrow gauge tracks to later change to standard gauge when we realise the limitations of the former.

We seized to be a British colony in 1957 and the UK is not even one of our largest trading partners. And still the press is using miles, artisans measure in feet and inches and petrol prices are still also given in gallons whilst there is no petrol station selling it in gallons.
No wonder most people still use Cedis in the old denomination.

It is heart warming news than the Chinese arrangement. However take a second look at the gauge of the railway track. If it will be possible to change to standard gauge or broad gauge we will have to do that.

2. Use GE as even Russia imports Engines from GE. there must be negotiations on these
3. Why UG and not KNUST. Anyway the location infrastructure is phenomenal and I blame our academic institutions especially KNUST for not seeing anything good in that asset. The railway trained a lot of engineers from draught men civil mechanical electrical telecoms etc. Their training school was said to be one of the best after Valco and AGC
4. We must reward the engineers and works at the Takoradi location for jealously protecting that ASSETS in that area till now. God Bless Ghana

This railway project is the single most thoughtful project that convinces me of how serious Nana Akufo Addo is about his promise to transform Ghana industrially. The railroad system is the backbone of industrialization everywhere. Partnering with Russia is a very smart move to demonstrate our neutrality in global politics. We inherited the railroad system from the colonial government. It is a shame that we allowed such a national treasure to deteriorate due to poor management. I am also excited about the railroad university in Takoradi. When I was an engineering student at KNUST in the early 60s I did one summer internship at the Railways Location there and was fascinated by the scope and scale of machinery already installed and in use at the place. That facility can support any railroad University. I am even more excited by number of jobs that this will create for our youth. Nana, this is a very smart strategic step that will leave a memorable legacy in your name. God bless you for this.

Mysuggestion to the government is that after the construction,the government should turn the railway project to a private company to run the rail system and let the company pay taxes to the government every year.

In our quest for accelerated development, we must must think 50-100 years ahead. We may never have the chance to upgrade the system in the foreseeable future so we must go for the 4.6ft gauge. It is the best and that's being used in most countries. If can not go for the best, then we must as well stop.
We should look at countries like Ethiopia and Kenya and learn from them. Ghanaians, it time for us to big, think impossible and work assiduously to realise it just like any other country in the world.
