B4 a filling station is sited there is the need to first acquire what is called zoning status that clearly paves way for a filling station to be sited. The fire service only look at the level of safety arrangements that have been put in place. I will advice all to take a little time to learn.. Pls let's appreciate the little that the fire service is doing and encourage them to do more. Thanks

  If the fire service feels the zoning status or whatever you are referring to will have consequences for the area, they can definitely appeal against such projects.... their duty do not and should not start after projects have been finished. Right from planning stages of mega project, through simulations, exit routes, proposed safety measures, safety zones need to be approved before such projects begin. That's what we need to look at. Building a nation is not about many media houses making unnecessary noise, and people building unnecessarily tall structures with Chinese doors without parking spaces, emergency exit etc. The fire service should prove to us that they have the mandate to ensure all and sundry comply with safety standards.how often do Fire Officers visit our schools, public areas, churches, etc to inspect their evacuation plan and safety measures? Let's stop applauding people for performing their normal duties!!! Rather we should challenge them to enforce their laws.
