You can't train a monkey to do accounting. If you want to advise the young graduates to not concentrate on their qualifications but continue to develop their problem solving skills, the go straight to the point.

You can't train a monkey to do accounting. If you want to advise the young graduates to not concentrate on their qualifications but continue to develop their problem solving skills, the go straight to the point.

Will you employ them if they appear in your office without qualifications/certificates, and they tell you they are well-read, will you hire them based on their verbal assertions, and how will you measure their assertions?

Please, be a little realistic and help the youth as deemed necessary.

When I left Ghana one thing that set us apart from Nigerians was our reserved nature. Ghanaians always carried themselves with great respect for themselves and those present.That served me so well.The people I met in America gave me so much benifit of the doubt I managed to get opportunities ordinarily reserved for Citizens.Nigerians were the obnoxious and loud ones and they suffered for that.Now it feels like Ghanaians go out of their way to be obnoxious,loud,disrespectful and uncultured. 20 years ago you would never hear a Ghanaian publicly compare accountants to monkeys and you would never have the media report it.What happened to my Ghana and my countrymen?

Employers and employees need to be proactive to make the cut these days. This is what Thompson is talking about. It does not literally mean a monkey can do an accountants job. Employees must think beyond keeping records and getting fat paycheck. i.e things that will improve your company's bottom line. In fact in every competitive environment one must meet the expected or recommeded deliverables to be considered a valued employee. Only buffoons like Jay Ray Ram Alan will think that a degree from a highly recognized institution is enough. Ones thinking ability outside the box for success is what every employer or society needs. It is not about gaging people, it is about doing the right things
