He made the right point. "IF" you are borrowing rampantly, you can't or won't be seeing a decline in interest rates as evidenced by the decline in the policy rate or the T-bill rates.
So the suggestion by the question that the government was borrowing very rampantly is not backed by the facts or the current macroeconomic indicators.
And by the way, some of the figures used in the question were referring to restructured debt, therefore the debt stock has not actually increased.

But from the money markets the Cedi is declining and has already bridge the GHC5.00 mark to the Euro. Why is that

Any government that borrow is incompetent and you turn around to do same. Now you see there's a clear difference between tall on a campaign platform and actual leading.

Bernard's question was a cleaver one,but riddled with some factual inaccuracies and flawed impressions.First of all it is factually inaccurate to quote the GDP of Ghana as 80billion GHC within the first six months of this year.Secondly,it is woefully flawed to suggest that this GOV'T borrowed half of GDP within the first quarter of their first year. And last but not least,it is theoretically naive to question the modus operandus of borrowing by a Gov't without recourse to the prudence or otherwise of it.

They are all bunch of armed robbers.

Fellow countrymen, if we have $400 billion bauxite deposit underground in this blessed country, why do we go cap-in-hand borrowing to the unholy tune of 72% of our GDP? This is the question we should be asking John Mahama,Seth Terkper,Fifi Kwetey(Mr setting the records straight), Ato Forson and the rest of the rip-off brigade. Why then did Dr Bawumia come to look us in the eye and lie like hell that they won't borrow when they come to power ? I tell you that he was simply double crossed by the brigands who sold 58% of the bauxite deposit on the quite and for chicken feed to Ibrahim Mahama and Co.if 58% of $400 billion is $232 billion, where is that money?how come non of us ordinary Ghanaians hear of this sale until the current government came to power? Had we been paid just a $100 million for the 58% deposit, wouldn't you and I have heard of this? To cut a long story short, this current government assumed the reigns of power only to realise that the coffers were leaking like sewage and all this cash gone so they said well let's borrow in the interim but borrow smart by going for cheaper loans to pay off the humongous heap of higher interest loans incured by the brigands which in any case does not add anything to the heap and then "leverage" 5% of this bauxite deposit for $19 billion to give all Ghanians breathing space and restart the economic recovery afresh.fellow country men and women, what these very brigands label as 19 billion loan is simply a mortgage of 5% of our collective patrimony at the right price in order to overhaul the entire economy and see Ghana change positively in the next 6 months.however what no one seems to be asking is how come the brigands didn't bring back to us our 232 billion dollars after the outright sale of 58% of our deposit? Do we know what 232 billion dollars would have done for 27 million people?it would have meant that if only we choose to,no body in Ghana will work for 4 good years and still get paid at the end of every month, just eating, sleeping, getting high and frolicking if you like for 4 plus good years.no one is asking where is the that money.rather the very brigands and their cohorts and of course some poor souls who don't know any thing different are saying that Dr Bawumia has gone to borrow 19 billion to add to our debt stock.isn't it interesting to note that it is mainly some first timers to parliament who want to be heard and noticed by all means who are now championing the noise about borrowing 19 billion.the rip-off brigand are silent and are not even talking.where is Mr Setting the records straight? He is also in parliament.
