If you allow enough distance between your car and the car ahead, you will NOT run into them even if they make a sudden stop. That is what defensive driving means. The fact that a car ahead of you makes a sudden stop doesn't justify you running into it.

If a car is completely stopped on a highway, does that mean you run into them? A careful driver will notice that ahead of time.

Also, according to him, the vehicle in front was originally in motion, so it will take time before it comes to a stop, and as such, if the bus driver is a qualified driver he would leave enough space between his bus and the vehicle ahead such that he will be able to safely stop even if the vehicle in front suddenly stops. Was the bus driver sober, or is he qualified to drive?

The driver is telling you what happened. We were all made to believe the truck was stationary due to mechanical problems but now we are learning that was not the case.

If a high beam behind you can impair your driving, then a high beam of a car overtaking you can reflect in the mirrors or front GLASS of your car to impair your vision. Just get a Physics Teacher or Professor to teach you how or you can experiment with your wife or girlfriend at a parking lot with no cars and let her turn her car high beam behind yours if it will not impair your vision.

If his vision was blinded from an oncoming vehicle with high beam lights, that would have made some sense, but for a vehicle overtaking you with high beam lights is able to blind your vision, then the driver has some sort of sight issues.

The human error factor is the real cause of the accident. The safest driving distance between two high speeding cars is between 70 and 100 metres.
Let's for now get everyone in good shape, then we can start our usual "blame game"

Most drivers need training in driving especially taxi drivers. Many drivers don't know when to dim your headlights, when to stop and where, when to overtake and even the distance between their vehicles and the one ahead of them. If you are driving at night and you are not sure of what is ahead of you, you slow down. Taxi drivers stop anyhow and anywhere to pick passengers and they cause a lot of problems for other road users. Better be LATE than be the LATE.

Aahhh this man paaaa, how can a car overtaking u have his high light affect u? If u had said the car was coming opposite then it cud be true..I think the driver had it wrong..

We must not discount the driver's version. It is possible the driver was dazzled by the high beam of the overtaking car reflecting from the side and rear view mirrors.

We must not discount the driver's version. It is possible the driver was dazzled by the high beam of the overtaking car reflecting from the side and rear view mirrors.
But he needs to explain why he didn't slow down considerably when he experienced such dazzling light. And he needs to explain why he didn't react quickly enough when the vehicle in front of him slowed down. Were his brakes bad? Was he driving when fatigued? Was he intoxicated? Seems he lacked concentration, for reasons known to only him.
In his case, he's guilty unless proven otherwise. Incompetent driver who deserves to be charged and lose his job!

Is sad but to all drivers ,stop using highbeam when meet another car.
Secondly , if you can see property because of someone's highbeam, slow down or if safe stop to avoid such kind of accident.

ON A FAST ROAD LIKE THE KUMASI ROAD, ONE MUST KEEP AT LEAST 15 CARS LENGTH DISTANCE BEHIND THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. YOU ONLY MOVE CLOSE WHEN YOU NEED AND IT IS SAFE TO OVERTAKE.

IF THE DRIVER HAD KEPT THE 15 CAR DISTANCE, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AMPLE TIME TO REACT TO EVENTS AHEAD.

You get the reflection of the high been from your wing mirror and in most cases it can blind the driver of the vehicle ahead it's so common in Ghana for drivers to use high beam which is very wrong
