IN MY VIEW WE CAN'T DISBAND THOSE GROUPS. THEY ARE LAW ABIDING. THEY POSED A BIT OF TROUBLE RECENTLY BUT THAT CANNOT OVERIDE THEIR GOOD SIDE.

  What caused the formation of the vigilante groups in the first place? There was a time some activists of a party snatched ballot boxes from polling stations with impunity while policemen looked on....people were prevented from exercising their franchise physically while police look on.....a lot of rowdy behavour and beatings were visited on perceived opponents during election time and nobody said anything and did nothing to stop it. No codeo or whatever. The parties had to defend themselves and protect their votes because the police failed them. Vigilante groups sprung up to do just that and codeo wants them abolished. Not until what caused their formation is completely resolved and guaranteed, I am afraid, these groups will continue to abide with us. Do you understand, codeo? Please address the root cause and there will be no need for vigilante groups.!

  The research lacks a wider scop on the issues of vigilante groups and how they operate or re formed,as long as the police service reduce their mandate and loyalty to only the ruling government,this ll not stop.We always exaggerate our democratic growth and understanding on most issues,the most discipline and respected institution in Ghana is the military,we should learn to handover some key operations to them for peaceful reasons,what if we allow the military to run and operate all toll boots in Ghana?its should be taken away from political parties,not only that,the 48 engineering regiment must be equipped very well to undertake majority of our roads contracts,they can recruit more tradesmen and women for this to cut down on corruption.The NCCE should not downplay their role in educating the public on electoral and civic responsibilities of citizens,why would they want to organize political debates among educated persons when the illiterate lots re on the lose? There should be orientations to educate departments to stay within their defined mandates and stop crossing into areas they ve no knowledge of.Example the designing of a logo for a the EC could've been handle by the NCCE that would've arrive at a more meaningful logo that ll make an impact than what the EC boss did that has landed her in trouble.If CODEO take a closer look,every political party in Ghana is a vigilante group themselves,they build their own security all the time,they can do the unthinkable at anytime,how do you explain how a political party going on a keep fit walk ended up throwing stones into the house of an opposition leader now president?re we fighting against the names or actions?any group of persons can take the law into their own hand and give themselves a name.We should rather look at our situation and allow the military to takeover key institutions to prevent the quadrilateral recurrence of vigilante actions that ll not stop anytime soon.
