Paul Clement believes the Ghana international has so far shown good form in their preparations towards the new campaign

Swansea City striker Jordan Ayew is making an impression on manager Paul Clement in pre-season, going by the coach's comments after a 2-1 friendly win over American side Richmond Kickers on Wednesday.

The Ghana international was a 61st-minute substitute as the English Premier League outfit won their first of three preseason games, having earlier lost 1-0 to Barnet and drawn 2-2 with the Philadelphia Union.

“It was a good game,” Clement said, according to the club's official website.

“It was a good run out. It was similar to our first game as we made a lot of changes.

“We made changes after 60 minutes, which meant quite a few players had 30 minutes.

“There were encouraging signs. It was good to win, especially after a loss and draw so far in pre-season.

“We take part in games to win. We weren’t happy that we didn’t win the opening two games."

Oli McBurnie gave Swansea the lead before new signing Tammy Abraham fetched the winner after Franck Tayou brought the opposition level.

Ayew, although could not get on the scoresheet in the game, found the back of the net in the earlier draw with the Philadelphia Union.

“We looked more dangerous with the team that played the last 30 minutes," Clement continued.

“Tammy had a chance to score almost immediately after coming on – he should have scored that – while Jordan had another two.

“But Tammy managed to score later on, so it was good to see them two looking dangerous.”

Ayew will be hoping for a better year with the Swans this season following a January move from Aston Villa. He had to wait until the final matchday of last season to break his goal duck.
