What we're witnessing is what has been happening in all institutions in Ghana. The problem is corruption and how emboldened the perpetrators are. The problem in this case is that the stealing isn't coordinated. Some of the thieves are more greedy than others. Thievery is embedded in our political system. That's why political parties, notoriuosly NDC, are the first to throw their weight in defense of people accused of corruption. The parties have taken Ghanaians for granted for a long time but we are becoming smarter gradually. We're all watching Nana Addo. His ass will be gone if he does nothing about this this corruption disease that has befallen our dear country. This EC problem and many others are a test for Nana Addo and NPP about how serious they are about rebuilding our country. They should just ignore the noise, garbage and threats spewed out by NDC and do what is right, economically and socially, for Ghana. This is an opportunity for Nana Addo to do us a favor by cleaning up the EC.

She must earn our respect by what she does not what she says in the public square. Respect for competent leadership is earned not demanded. She has responded indeed. However, whether or not her response is appropriate can only be determined during the hearing of the petition. The accusations and counter accustations make the hearing of the petition imperative. One thing is certain though, and it is that, the composition of the EC, as currently constituted is not sustainable. There is too much bad blood among senior staff. The authority of the Commission Chair has been severely compromised by the accusations against her and her counter accusations. Legal avenues should therefore be explored to replace the entire senior management of the Commission, if it is to fulfill it's mandate effectively in future.
