Renovation of official residences and government offices should not be frown upon unless fraud has taken place in the action.
People should not be singled out. The whole system has to be overhauled and no one must be permitted to use official vehicles for personal use. Government Contracting processes need to be overhauled and everything must be done through the process and not whimsically.

If Charlotte Osei felt the year old vehicle which was left by the past EC Chair was beneath her status and was unfit for her use, the request for the vehicle for her office should have been captured by the budget. She said she neither solicited nor lobbied for it. So why did she collect the vehicle and give the year old vehicle to her household? Even at this initial stages of what would seem to be very revealing, Charlotte Osei's conduct at the EC, could be worse than Vivian Lamptey's tenure at the CHRAG. The question to ask is why do the Ndc appoint haughty women into official positions. How do these women get into the confidence of the Ndc? They belong to the same league however. So it is a matter of course to appoint arrogant women, to make the game complete. The accusations and the counters from the top structure of the EC, tells a very serious story. The sum total of it all. The boss at the EC was not in charge of the state institution, prior to the national elections. Ghana was very lucky to have passed through luckily, this maze of corruption, influence peddling, pettiness and pomposity, directionless and ineffective leadership at the EC. The mantra of President Mahama and the Ndc before the 2016 elections was that the EC is an independent state institution and for which reason, they should be left on their own and that no group should interfere with their conduct of business. While this high pitch resonated in the country, President Mahama by sleight of hand, released a prized vehicle to the EC Boss. This may not be the end of dirty deals that were thought to be going on in the confines of the 'security zone' of the EC office. Shame! The country may get to know a lot more of the rot at the EC.

Nevertheless, this is a systemic problem rather than a corrupt practice and the Ghana gov't must show its hand by putting in place corrective measures: that is official vehicles can be assigned to agencies for pool use. Top officials should however, purchase their own vehicles and be paid travel allowance which should be rigidly monitored.

From what has transpired so far, it doesn't need rocket scientist to know that Charlotte Osei's only crime is her attempt to stop the lack of accountability, circumvention of laid-down procedures and outright fraud and thievery that madam Amankwaa, Mr Suley and the director of finance have institutionalized. This kind of attitudes, behaviour is what is making our country not develop because a huge sums of money was unnecessarily used just because of your comfort. Some of these ones including some travel to big cities and call for government vehicles to come and pick them whereas they are supposed to be managers. If all they have said about Challotte Osei are true then I want my party people, the NDC to quiet. Don't defend osei and let it be a lesson to the ones who assume high offices. But if it is a dirty ploy to unseat her then it will never be well with you for God is watching.

If the answer is positive, then the EC Chair has some questions to answer. My problem would be her diverting the rejected V8 as her family car. Even this would not carry much weight.
