The District Security Council (DISEC) at Kwabre East and traditional leaders have banned ‘Soloku’ and wake keeping activities in the Ahwiaa Community in the Ashanti Region.

Scores of persons were injured while properties worth billions of Ghana cedis were also destroyed on Saturday February 3, 2018 after a violent crash between the Zongo and the Asante Youths.

The fight occurred with the two factions attacking each other with machetes and weapons after the townsfolk had prevented the Zongo youth from participating in a burial and funeral rites of a lady.

He said ‘’since we don’t want to see any clash again in the Ahwiaa community, DISEC and the traditional leaders have banned soloku and all wake keeping activities.’’

‘’Even if there is a funeral in the community, the moment the family head leaves the funeral grounds we will instruct all machines to go off.

We are also maintaining the security present here in order to maintain law and order”.

He has however charged the police to go after those dealing with hard drugs in the community.
