Private legal practitioner, lawyer Maurice Ampaw has threatened to drag former President John Dramani Mahama to court to prevent him from contesting as president because legally, he does not qualify.

He is therefore advising him to rescind his decision from contesting the race.

The lawyer told Rainbow Radio 87.5FM that, he will personally place an injunction on Mr Mahama if he fails to rescind his decision from contesting as flagbearer.

‘’I am appealing to Mr Mahama to rescind his decision from contesting. If indeed he is patriotic, a nationalist and loves Ghana, then he should not contest again.’’

‘’There are so many reasons some of us think Mr Mahama should not contest again. There are so many reasons; legally and politically. It would be a disaster for Ghanaians should Mahama contest again,’’ he added.

He has also promised to vote and campaign for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) should they present Alban Bagbin as presidential candidate.

‘’I will go for Alban Bagbin and I will also admonish any genuine NDC delegates to vote for Alban Bagbin because they will have the opportunity to win the race in 2020 with Bagbin as candidate.’’

He also took a swipe at the Association of the Disabled Persons for attacking the longest serving legislator over his recent comments he made about Dr Omane Boamah and Dr. Seidu Danaa who were appointees under Mr Mahama.

The lawyer who is defending Bagbin said, he [Bagbin] owes nobody an apology and will not apologise because he spoke the truth without mincing words.

Ghanaians he noted are hypocrites and for Bagbin to speak the truth shows he is courageous and fearless hence his decision to vote for the NDC should they present him as candidate.

What Mr Bagbin said about Dr Boamah and Danaa and Okudzeto Ablakwa was the truth and these are the people we need as leaders.
