NDC Central Regional Chairman, Allotey Jacobs has blamed politicians for the upsurge in vigilante actions in the country.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Allotey Jacobs expressed concerns over the recent attack by a pro-NPP vigilante group 'Delta Force' on Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei who doubles as Minister of State for Monitoring and Evaluation.

Some heavily-built men stormed a meeting of constituency executives chaired by Dr. Akoto Osei over the weekend in a quest to physically assault the Minister but he managed to escape unscathed.

Addressing the issue, the NDC Stalwart cautioned the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) as well as politicians to stop fanning the violent behavior of these vigilante groups.

He also called on the Police to clamp down on the members of such gangs and deal with them according to the country's laws to serve as deterrent to others.

“Don’t let us back these vigilantes. Because they’re being tailored behind the scene, some people are remote controlling them. So, we will see that kind of arrogance is always there but it all stems from the promises made by politicians . . . The Police need to detach themselves from politicians,” he said.
