Ghanaian international, Andre Dede Ayew is set to miss Swansea City’s opening match in the English Championship this weekend following the club’s decision to give him another week to rest.
The player recently featured for his country at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament held in Egypt. Unfortunately for the Black Stars though, they were knocked out by Carthage Eagles of Tunisia at the round of 16.
Due to his exploits with his national team, Swansea allowed him a couple of weeks to rest to ensure he returns to the club refreshed.
Having missed the whole period of pre-season, the Swans has extended his stay at home and has given him another week to spend with his family before joining his teammates for the upcoming season.
What that means is that the former Olympic Marseille star man will miss Swansea’s opening match in the English Championship against Hull City.
The match will be played on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at the Liberty Stadium.
