Ghana defender Abdul Baba Rahman will undergo treatment on a knee injury which has weighed down his career, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively report.

The 25-year-old will go under the knife for the second time in less than six months in an injury-plagued career which has affected him both physically and emotionally.

The left-back, who has been withdrawn from the squad for the past two months, will be operated on by a specialist in Lyon, France, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

The Ghana international will undergo surgery after a conservative treatment plan on a partial rupture of the lateral ligament of the right knee failed to work.

The defender is now facing long spells on the sidelines which threatens his involvement in the La Liga for the remainder of the season.

The previous operation on the Ghanaian did not go well which has affected the defender emotionally.

Mallorca coach Vicente Moreno has revealed the Chelsea loanee is not well emotionally and that has affected his performance at training as he struggled in the Copa del Rey against El Álamo and Zaragoza.

He suffered the setback against Getafe and has not recovered since the match day five of the La Liga.

It appears the position of Rahman is untenable at the club after the Spanish side signed Olympiacos defender Leonardo Koutris in a massive defensive overhaul.

The situation coupled with his injury nightmare has put his future in serious doubts.

It's been hellish and nightmarish for the Ghanaian, whose career has been remarkably affected by recurrent injuries.

Rahman joined Chelsea in summer 2015 for a reported fee of 20 million euros. Since his arrival at the Blues, he left on few loan spells for the likes of Schalke, Reims and lastly Real Mallorca.

The 25-year-old left-back defender had hoped his loan expedition will work out positively this time after unfruitful spells in Germany and France with the Blues apparently not willing to depend on him anytime soon.
