Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey put in a Man of the Match performance as a handicapped Atletico Madrid side shared the spoils in a pulsating 2-2 stalemate against Valencia at the Mestalla.
Partey dazzled from the middle with expert tackles to win decisive balls; sleek passing ability to open up Valencia’s watertight middle and defense and an excellent energy and skill to make meaningful runs from the middle.
He absolutely bossed the midfield and served the orchestrator for an Atletico side missing several key players in their starting lineup.
Partey’s crowning moment came as he scored to give Atletico a 2-1 lead just before half time.
The 26 year old took possession of the ball in the middle, drove forward, and unleashed a venomous shot from outside the area. His shot found its way into the bottom corner and gave Atletico the advantage.
Partey has now scored two goals for Diego Simeone’s side this season as they move into the Top 4 of the Spanish La Liga.
