2026 World Cup qualifiers: Supporters made it possible for Black Stars to beat Central African Republic – Otto Addo
Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has credited the Kumasi crowd for his team's comeback win over the Central African Republic in Monday's 2026 World Cup qualifier.
Trailing 2-1 at halftime, Ghana rallied to win 4-3 in a dramatic match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, June 10.
This victory followed another impressive turnaround just four days earlier when the Black Stars overcame a 1-0 deficit at halftime to beat Mali 2-1 in Bamako on Thursday, June 6.
Speaking after the game, Otto Addo was full of praise for the raucous atmosphere the crowd created, despite the team enduring difficult periods in the game.
"The positive spirit. Despite being behind, away in Mali, and now here again, to come back from difficult situations, that needs to be mentioned. Also, the supporters, because they stayed behind us and kept supporting, made it possible for us to come back," he said.
Ghana is currently top of Group I with nine points from four games and has gotten their World Cup qualifying hopes back on track.
