Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has opened up about the current mood in the Black Stars camp ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
According to the Black Stars boss, this year’s pre-tournament camping in Dubai has been the best since he began working with the national team.
Ghana have been pitching camp in the Golf region for the past three weeks as they ready themselves for the continent’s flagship tournament which starts on Friday.
“I have been with the Stars for so many years as an assist and head coach, but I must confess to you all gathered here today that I have never had a peaceful training camp with the players compared to this,” Kwesi Appiah told the media.
“For this reason, I can boldly tell you that I am very confident in my players and I believe we will surprise all the teams at Afcon this year.
“Our main objective coming into this tournament remains the same as the team looks forward to win the Afcon trophy for the first time in 37 years,” Appiah served notice.
The four-time winners have been drawn in Group F alongside defending champions Cameroon, Guinea Bissau and Benin.
Ghana will kickstart their campaign against Benin on June 25, four days before facing the Indomitable Lions.
The Black Stars last Group game will be against Guinea-Bissau on July 2.
