Veteran Ghanaian footballer Mohammed Polo has called on the Black Stars of Ghana to improve their performance ahead of their crucial match in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan on October 11, 2024.
According to him, the team has not had the best performance in recent times after failing to register a win in their two games against Angola and Niger in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
The four-time AFCON winner stated that there will be much pressure on the team in their game against Sudan, and he expects the team to get a positive result from the match to enhance their chances of qualifying for the AFCON.
“I will urge the team to uplift their performance. There will be pressure because of how they started the qualifiers, but they need to improve. Yes! It is not over for Ghana. We will struggle a bit, but we will definitely qualify,” he said, as quoted by ghanasoccernet.com.
It is worth noting that Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is yet to name his squad for the doubleheader against Sudan, which will have a major impact on Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the AFCON.
Ghana occupies the third position with one point in Group F of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers after two matches.
Angola is leading the group with six points, followed by Sudan with three points, while Niger lies at the bottom with one point.
