Addo hopes to make amends against Zimbabwe

Wad Madany, Sudan, Feb. 5, GNA - Head coach of the local

Black Stars, Herbert Addo, is convinced his team can bounce

back in the wake of their 1-2 loss to South Africa in their Sudan

CHAN 2011 opening match on Saturday. The Stars surrendered a first half lead to allow the South

Africans to rally back with two strikes in the second half, for a

false start to their campaign. Coach Addo has however expressed optimism that his boys

can deliver the expected results in the remaining Group B games

against Zimbabwe and Niger next week. "All is not lost. There are two games remaining and we can

recover. We could have done better but the mistakes were costly,"

Addo said in a post-match interview. The veteran trainer noted that the South Africans made the

most of their chances despite the fact that his team were on top

from the beginning. "We were in control in the first half and I'm happy with that

performance. The game of football can be strange sometimes, but

we hope to recover in subsequent games. "We will review the game tomorrow and then plan for the next

game, which is very crucial," he concluded. The local Black Stars next play old foes Zimbabwe on

Wednesday in Wad Madany and must avoid another loss to

remain in contention. Zimbabwe also lost 0-1 to Niger in the other

Group B match. The Ghanaians were runners-up during the maiden edition of

the tournament in 2009 in Cote d'Ivoire which is designed

exclusively for footballers playing in their domestic leagues.
