Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu says he is glad to have football back to serve as a means to ease the traumatizing thoughts of Covid-19.

Badu, who plays for Italian outfit Hellas Verona, explained how difficult it was at the height of the spread of the virus in Italy.

“We have been in isolation for 40 days because when we played Sampdoria, unfortunately, some of their players tested positive and we needed to be isolated. It was a very difficult situation for us. Especially for those of us who live alone. At the time, I didn’t want to watch television because when you open the television, all you see is dead bodies. It was very difficult,” he said.

All of that has eased up now but Badu still thinks a lot has to be done get the game running again with ease.

The Serie A returns this weekend after it’s halt on March 9. Among the measures to prevent the spread is the rule that there would not be fans in the stadium.

For Badu, although it takes the soul out of the game, he believes it is the best way to save lives and stop the spread.

“I think it will be very weird. Especially in these conditions. We played one game against Sampdoria before the league got cancelled and it was very weird because there was nobody in the stands. Having supporters around always makes the game beautiful and it will be very weird without them but this is the situation we are in. We just need to abide with it and go on with our games.”

The Coppa Italia second leg semi-final will precede the Serie A which begins officially on June 20.
