Atletico Madrid ace Thomas Partey to start against Leganes in La Liga

Ghana and Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is set to start ahead of Spain international Marcos Llorente in his side's game against Leganes in La Liga on Sunday.

Manager Diego Simeone is expected to give Partey the nod to start in their second game in the 2019/20 La Liga season.

Rodri's departure has left the position vacant, giving an opportunity to Partey to stake a claim in midfield ahead of promising youngster Llorente.

The Ghanaian is said to have been Diego Simeone's preferred option for the role and has been picked ahead of Llorente in training this week.

The 26-year-old was named in the starting XI in their season opener as they defeated Getafe FC 1-0 at home.
