The Vice Chairman of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's Campaign Team, Nana Akomea, has rejected calls for the Black Stars head coach to be relieved of his duties.
He argued that Ghana's habit of dismissing coaches who fail to perform at tournaments and qualifications does not help the team in terms of consistency going into the future.
Akomea stated that there is no need for the public to panic over the disappointment of the AFCON, but rather, they should give Otto Addo more time to be in charge of the team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers before considering such calls.
Speaking on Joy FM, he asserted that sacking Otto Addo could land the team in trouble, with the struggles likely to continue.
"I don't think we should get into a panic mode. I know there are widespread calls for the coach [Otto Addo] to be relieved of his role, but we have the World Cup qualification ahead of us. I believe we should maintain the coach to take us through the World Cup qualification because if there is trouble and we bring another coach, we still get into trouble.
"So I believe that we should maintain the coach and let him take us through the World Cup qualifications. If the results are not impressive, then we can take a decision," he said.
This comes as calls for Otto Addo's dismissal have heightened in recent times following the team's inability to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
GFA has dissolved the Black Stars management committee and will meet Otto Addo to assess his report on the team's disastrous performance.
