Head coach of Asante Kotoko, David Duncan has played down the idea of placing a scout team in charge of getting players for the club.
Duncan, admits no one can get him the players he wants for the club, since he is of the opinion, a scouting team might not do a good job because of kickbacks and other reasons.
“I don’t believe in that scouting team theory. Kotoko do not have a standing technical team so if you put in place a scouting team, they may not identify exactly what I want. No matter what, they may also have their choices," Duncan said.
“In any case, these scouts may select players based on ethnic or religious grounds. We have other who also take 10% of the transfer fees from the players. They are therefore clouded by these factors when doing the exercise. So it is better I do it myself.” he added.
Duncan recently organised a justifier, to identify potential players for the club, revealing, that has been his style of recruiting players as he does not trust a scouting team.
