Ghana legend Anthony Yeboah has revealed he almost signed for for Bayern Munich but a threat from Eintracht Frankfurt fans stopped him from joining the German giant.

According to Yeboah, the fans threatened to kill then Frankfurt directors if they agreed to sell him to Bayern.

The Ghanaian attacker caught the attention of Bayern Munich following a successful spell with Frankfurt where he won the Bundesliga top scorer award twice.

“Normally I should have gone to Bayern Munich but Frankfurt would not allow because the fans would kill them so they said no: we are not allowing you to go even though Bayern were 100% interested,” he told GTV Sports+ in an interview.

Yeboah after five seasons at Frankfurt was transferred to English side Leeds United.

He made 47 appearances and scored 24 goals before returning to Germany to play for Hamburger SV.

He later played for Qatari side Al-Gharafa SC (formerly Al-Ittihad) before hanging up his boot.
