The eldest son of Abedi Ayew Pele, Rahim Ayew, has revealed that he and his younger brother, Andre Dede Ayew, conceived the idea of playing for Ghana’s senior national team as far back as 2006.

According to Rahim, he was watching the 2006 FIFA World Cup with Dede Ayew when they declared their intentions to play for the Black Stars.

Although Dede Ayew was the first to be called up to the Black Stars in 2007, the dream of playing together only became a reality in 2010 when the two played for Ghana at the 2010 AFCON and World Cup in South Africa.

"It was our dream to play for the Black Stars together," Rahim Ayew said on Osikani TV.

He added, "I distinctly remember in 2006, we were sitting together when they were about to play the World Cup, and the next year, in 2007, he was called up for the Four Nations Tournament, and that was it. So, I had to find my way to get there."

Rahim Ayew played for the Black Stars for only one year, making nine appearances, while Dede Ayew went on to play 120 matches for the Black Stars, spanning 17 years.

Despite that, Rahim Ayew said he is content with how his career turned out.
