Ondo State Deputy Governor, Otunba Omolade Oluwateru has thrown his weight behind the Super Eagles of Nigeria to win next year's Africa Nations Cup being held in Ghana.

The soccer loving Deputy Governor who was at one time the state's Football Association boss disclosed this to the media after he declared open the National Executive Council Meeting of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) held last Saturday in Akure.

"We have the players that can win the Nations Cup for us next year in Ghana but this time around with adequate and necessary preparations. I don't see any team better than us there," he said with total confidence.

The former NFA Board member, however, called for early preparations to achieve this.

"My advice for us is to start early in our preparations and to prepare very well for the tournament," he advised.

He picked the host Ghana as a major threat to Nigeria's ambition of winning the Cup.

"Ghana has for a long time being our arch rival in African football. So I see Ghana giving us a hell of a problem when we meet in the competition. But like I said we have better players and talents to even be the best in the world not to talk of Africa but everything depends on our level of preparations.

"If we prepare well we will beat Ghana on their home ground to lift the Cup. At least we had beaten host teams in the past to win major tournaments and Ghana won't be an exception, the Ondo State Deputy Governor told news men in Akure. He was later conferred with a grand patron of Ondo State YSFON by the national President of YSFON, Alhaji Jamiu Tunde Ojulari during the occasion while Oluwateru was also given special invitation as special guest to attend YSFON Gala/Awards Nights scheduled for Abuja in December.

Ojulari also inaugurated five standing committees during the YSFON NEC Meeting which include Protocol and Logistics which has as chairman, Paul Akhagbeme of African Independent Television (AIT), Mrs Lawal as Secretary. Others members include Segun Ogunjimi of Kick Off Nigeria, Emmanuel Eze, Sadiq and Dili Onyedima.

Other committees inaugurated by the YSFON boss include Publicity and Media Committee, Marketing and Sponsorship, Ethics and YSFON Gala Nights Awards committees.
