Veteran coach JE Sarpong has called on the Ghana FA to employ the services of the military than relying on the police during league matches both in the elite and second tier league.

According to Sarpong, the presence of policemen at match centers do not scare the fans anymore and if the practice is not curtailed hooliganism would not stop.

His call comes after three players of division one side Karela United were pelted with stones and brutalized after beating Tarkwa United by 1-0 in the presence of some police officers.

“This is the time for us to curtail this time of thing (hooliganism). It doesn’t auger for our football. Ghanaian fear the soldiers and not the policemen we should not fear FIFA to curb hooliganism.

It is up to our big men to re-brand our security system because when you ban Hearts Oak you have not ban anybody , if you ban Kotoko have not ban anybody because their supporters are everywhere”, Sarpong told Starr Sports.

This misbehavior had seen the major sponsorship of the second tier league, GN Bank withdraw their partnership and now contemplating of terminating their marriage in the near future.
