The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), partners for this year’s MTN FA Cup grand finale between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko have announced an exciting package for fans who will be in Tamale for the game.
The Tourism Authority sees the historic final match between Ghana’s most successful clubs as a way of promoting their campaign to boost domestic tourism in the country.
At a brief press conference to announce the events, Mr. Ben Nsiah (Marketing manager of GTA) said that as part of their “See. Eat. Wear. Feel” campaign the Authority will sponsor a special “Guinea Fowl Festive Night” on the eve of the finals.
The GTA have also undertaken the cost of providing an extra performer (Macassio) to join Tamale’s sensational artiste Fancy Gaddam for the finals.
The Tourism Authority will also sponsor 30 Ghanaians made of 15 members of the general public and 15 journalists from selected media houses across the country for an all-expenses-paid trip to Tamale and back.
The 15 members from the public would be selected from a special promo during sports shows on the selected media houses with questions based on tourist attraction sites in Ghana.
Mr. Nsiah also announced that the two-day package which would commence on Saturday to Sunday, will include visits to various tourist sites along the Accra to Tamale road and also host a special reception to taste the Northern delicacies.
This is the first time a football event of this magnitude is being held in the Northern Regional Capital.
Meanwhile, the FA Cup planning Committee has announced that the match is scheduled to kick off at 3pm instead of 5pm as earlier announced.
