Hapoel Tel Aviv midfielder Emmanuel Boateng accepts pay cut to avoid contract termination

Ghana International Emmanuel Boateng accepted a pay cut from Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv to prevent his contract from being terminated, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

A lot of clubs have been plunged into financial crisis due to the coronavirus outbreak especially in Europe which has seen teams such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich and others in talks with their players for a slash in their wages.

Boateng accepted a reduction in his wages to avoid his contract from been terminated this week. His team mates, Marvin Pressman and Felipe Rodrigues have had their contracts terminated by the club after the duo failed to accept a cut in their wages, the club announced on Wednesday.

The two players have been asked to leave Israel. Michael Oulha and Emmanuel Boateng were the other players to have not be released by the club.

According to a club official the decision to terminate the contracts of the two players is backed by legal action.

“Like all players, they also received a demand for a cut. Because their refusal was sent to them, we received legal advice that this was legal”.

According to sources the two players may seek redress from FIFA over the cancellation of their contracts.
