Legendary Ghanaian player, Charles Taylor, has blamed Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, for the team's goalless draw against Sudan in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium.

According to him, Addo’s penchant for backing key players in the team regardless of their performance in matches is hurting the team and needs to be checked.

The former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak player chided the Black Stars coach for his mediocre tactical approach to the game against Sudan, adding that Jordan Ayew's role as a striker was problematic.

“The biggest problem of the coach is the squad selection. I’m not saying they are not good, but he does not have the audacity to speak to players when things are going wrong. If he had, we would have gotten a goal against Sudan. I couldn’t even notice the striker in the game; if it was Jordan Ayew, then his positioning on the pitch was different.

“He lacks an in-depth understanding of the job, which reflects in his approach to games. Otto must listen to advice. He has been using the same squad for matches, which does not give positive results, so what is preventing him from changing the squad?” he said in Twi during an interview with Angel FM.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars' goalless draw against Sudan in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers has left the team with two points from three matches.

The second match against Sudan will take place in Libya on October 14, 2024.
