Former Black Stars goalkeeper, Alhaji Adam Nii Dodoo Ankrah, has shared the story of how his exceptional goalkeeping skills earned him the nickname 'Magic Hands.'

In his account, he recalled a crucial match between the Black Stars and Nigeria in Lagos, which was filled with tension and high stakes.

The legendary goalkeeper explained that during the game, it became evident that the referee was not being fair in his officiating, especially when the Black Stars were leading 2-1.

Dodoo Ankrah emphasized that he had to make crucial saves to keep his team in the game, and it was during this match that a Nigerian commentator, Ishola, bestowed upon him the nickname 'Magic Hands.'

"When we entered the dressing room at halftime, the score was 2-1 in our favor against Nigeria. The referee's decisions were not in our favor. It was during this match that a Nigerian commentator, Ishola, dubbed me 'Magic Hands' for my performance," he explained during an interview with Muftawu Nabila on JoyNews.

The AFCON winner also revealed a tragic incident involving Ghanaian supporters who were traveling by bus to Nigeria for the game. The bus collided with a tanker in Kutongu, resulting in fatalities and injuries among the supporters.

"Despite the tragic accident, some supporters who were on the bus still made it to the stadium in Lagos to support us. When they arrived, there was blood, and we were unaware of what had happened. Their dedication and sacrifice were truly remarkable," Dodoo Ankrah recounted.
