Boxer cum comedian Braimah Kamoko popularly referred to as Bukom Banku has opined that Isaac Dogboe’s success as a boxer is down to his discipline, aggressiveness and confidence but not because he is blessed with outstanding boxing talent.

According to Bukom Banku, after watching series of Dogboe’s bouts he has come to realize that the reigning WBO Super Bantamweight Champion is not a naturally gifted boxer but a product of hard work, discipline and perseverance.

“I don’t want people to say that I’m wishing his downfall. I know boxing more than anyone in this country aside Azumah Nelson and Ike Quartey. Dogboe has a good spirit and confidence. He knows that if I want to win this gold I must train to take the gold. That guy he is a fighter not a boxer. He doesn’t know boxing too much but if you fight with him he will stop you because he is a fighter. I pray for him to be a world champion because as a father of Ghana boxing, I have to pray for the small boys to do well”.

Isaac Dogboe became Ghana youngest title holder after defeating then champion Jessie Magdaleno via round 11 knockout on 29th April, 2018.

The 23-year-old boxer then went on to make a successful defence his title, this time in a remarkable fashion, knocking out Japanese boxer Hidenori Otake in round one in August.

Dogboe after defending his title against Hidenori Otake made known his intentions of dominating the weight class on a number of occasions.

Earlier this week, his promoters, Top Rank announced that the "Royal Storm" will make his second title defence against Emanuel Navarrete on December 8 at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The fight will serve as the under-card of the previously announced lightweight world title unification bout between pound-for-pound king Vasiliy Lomachenko and Jose Pedraza on the Top Rank Boxing.

Bukom Banku, on the other hand, is yet to fight after his humiliating defeat to Bastie Samir last year. He has been billed to be the ring announcer for the first edition of the Asamoah Gyan Night.
