Jordan Ayew targets relegation escape for Swansea City
Swansea forward Jordan Ayew insists Premier League survival is more important than his own personal triumphs.
The Ghana international only moved to the Liberty Stadium from Aston Villa during the January transfer window but his first-team opportunities have been limited, with his only league start to date coming in the 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth last time out.
The 25-year-old insists he is happy to bide his time for a regular starting birth as it is more important for the Swans to secure top-flight survival.
?I have not played so much yet but the most important thing is that the team win,? the 25-year-old said. ?If we win games, we will still be in the Premier League next season. And if that happens, I will be the happiest person in the world.?
Ayew netted seven goals during his debut Premier League season with Aston Villa and although that campaign ended in relegation, he insists it was always his ambition to play in the English top-flight.
?I have always watched the Premier League. When I was growing up in Ghana, it was always my dream to play here," he added.
?I got the opportunity with Villa. It didn?t work out really well for the team but I think it was okay for me although you don?t see that when the team go down. It?s hard to enjoy it."
