The editor of Kotoko Express, Jerome Otchere reckons the sacking of Kjetil Zachariassen is inevitable as the coach has failed to convince the club’s management and fans that he is the right man to lead the club’s charge for domestic and continental success.
Zachariassen was brought in after the club controversially sacked CK Akonnor who had led them to glory in Tier 1 of the Special Competition.
The Norwegian was among others things tasked to lead Kotoko to glory in the CAF Champions League.
However, defeats in both the Champions League and Confederations Cup has placed his job under threat with fans calling for his head.
Jerome Otchere who questioned the timing of Akunnor’s sacking and Zachariassen’s appointment believes that his stay at the club is a threat to the long-term success of Kotoko.
Jerome says like many of the club’s followers, he has been left unimpressed by the progress Kotoko has made under Norwegian.
He also called for a quick resolution to the brouhaha surrounding the coach’s whereabouts after their defeat to San Pedro last Sunday.
“I don’t think we should entertain that. The coach has a contract, if he has not lived up to expectation as Kotoko wanted it, I think he should be fired. There shouldn’t be any drama about whether he is coming or now. All over the world coaches are fired. We shouldn’t be going about this as if sacking him would be a problem”.
“Zachariassen will definitely be sacked though I don’t know when. Sacking Zachariassen is clearly on the wall. This is not a coach that can help Kotoko. I think management should be bold enough to change the technical direction of the club. Clearly, he is not fit for the Kotoko job”, Jerome said.
