Kwesi Appiah has backed his former deputy Maxwell Konadu to excel with the Black Stars because he has ‘proven his potential’.
Konadu, a former Asante Kotoko trainer, is reported to have been appointed in an interim capacity to supervise next month’s African Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea.
Until his latest portfolio, he had deputized for Kwesi Appiah at both the Black Stars and Meteors positions respectively.
Answering questions at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Ghana’s wreaked World Cup campaign, the soft-spoken tactician revealed Konadu can step into the big shoe to steer the Africans to glory.
“He is proven his potential, he took Kotoko to win the league and I also went with him as assistant to win the All Africa Games gold as well as working as my assistant for the past two years with the Black Stars. I personally believe that given the chance, he can do a very good job,” he said.
“We worked for two years (Black Stars) and I never had any problem with him. We also worked together with the Black Meteors and we won gold in Maputo, never did we have any misunderstanding with each other.
The two former Kotoko players are believed to be great allies despite recent claims of a supposed feud between the two friends.
