Latest transfer gossip in the GPL before deadline day

Ghana Premier League clubs have completed a flurry of last-minute transfers as teams finalised their squads ahead of the new season.

Transfer updates, as reported by sports journalists, show several clubs making significant moves on transfer deadline day, with Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, Gold Stars, Bechem United and Swedru All Blacks among the sides completing notable deals.

Asante Kotoko announced the signing of 22-year-old Moroccan goalkeeper Abdelwadie Mourad, who has joined from Albanian side Basania FC.

The goalkeeper began his professional career with Moroccan top-flight club Chabab Mohammedia, where he progressed through the youth ranks before making 14 first-team appearances.

The Porcupine Warriors also completed the signing of DR Congo centre-back Aristote Tamuzi, making him their final addition of the transfer window.

Kotoko had secured Cameroonian attacker Solomon Nsoh Asaah on a permanent deal.

The club also parted ways with several players, with left-back Francis Acquah returning to Bechem United, while goalkeeper Benjamin Twum is set to rejoin former club Young Apostles.

At Hearts of Oak, the Phobians pulled off one of the biggest deadline-day moves by securing the signature of former Accra Lions defensive midfielder Dominic Nsobila.

Nsobila was reportedly close to joining Aduana FC before Hearts intervened at the eleventh hour. He has signed a two-year contract with the club.

Meanwhile, Gold Stars have retained forward Kwame Opoku until 2027, with the former Asante Kotoko striker completing his medical and signing a one-year deal with the Bibiani-based club.

Gold Stars, however, lost midfielder Francis Twene, who has returned to Bechem United on a permanent deal after leaving the club as a free agent following the 2025/26 season.

Bechem United were among the busiest clubs on deadline day, completing deals for former Karela United right-back Augustine Rudolph, Francis Twene and Benab FC defensive midfielder Julius Owusu.

At Swedru All Blacks, defender Michael Abrokwa has joined from Nations FC on a two-year deal, while the club also completed the signing of Nations FC forward John Ahuma Ocansey.

Vision FC have made the loan move of Faruk Mohammed permanent, signing the Nations FC forward on a two-year contract after his impressive loan spell at the club last season.

Aduana FC have signed former Heart of Lions left-back Bismark Anim on a two-year deal. At the same time, FC Ashantigold completed the signing of Ghana U20 player and former Accra Lions winger Edmond Amakye.

Dreams FC have strengthened their attack with the signing of Saad Mohammed from Benab FC, while Karela United have added former Real Tamale United and FC Samartex forward Mohammed Alhassan Mankuyeli on a two-year contract.

Berekum Chelsea have also secured the services of former Young Apostles goalkeeper Zulka Massawudu, who has signed a two-year deal.

Elsewhere, Nations FC completed the permanent signing of former Legon Cities centre-back Nicholas Mensah.

With the transfer window now closed and 11 days left, clubs will turn their attention to integrating their recruits as preparations intensify for the upcoming Ghana Premier League campaign.
