Matchday five wrap: Hearts edge Liberty in Accra derby in Ghana Special Competition
A Kojo Obeng Junior strike helped Hearts of Oak to a 1-0 away victory over city rivals Liberty Professionals in the Ghana Football Association Normalisation Committee Special Competition on Sunday.
The striker's 43rd-minute effort proved crucial as it won all three points and bragging rights for the Phobians in the Zone B matchday five fixture at Dansoman's Carl Reindorf Park.
Elsewhere in the zone, Wafa were held to a 1-1 draw away by Dreams FC. Kingsford Opoku Frimpong scored first for the Academy Boys but Issaka Ibrahim equalised for the home side to share the spoils in Dawu.
It is now two defeats for Inter Allies in the novelty league following a 3-1 loss to Karela United. Abdullah Waris netted the consolation for the Eleven-Is-To-One after Darlington Gyanfosu, Isaac Kwain and Patrick Yeboah scored for the hosts.
Bottom-placed Ebusua Dwarfs and Elmina Sharks, meanwhile, could only settle for a 0-0 draw in Cape Coast.
In Zone B, Asante Kotoko could not continue their winning run as they played out a 1-1 stalemate with Bechem United. And it was Fatawu Safiu Abdul who spared the Porcupines' blushes as he drew parity from the spot after Kojo Achau Owusu opened the scoring for the Hunters.
In Techiman, goals from Fuseini Ganiu and Solomon Afriyie Osei steered Eleven Wonders to a 2-0 triumph over Berekum Chelsea.
Ashanti Gold boosted their poosh for the top spot with a 1-0 triumph over Medeama in Obuasi. Amos Addai scored the decisive goal.
The match between Stallions FC (formerly Wa All Stars) and Aduana Stars has been rescheduled.
