Accra, Jan. 15, GNA - Media practitioners will temporarily drop their pens, note pads, microphones and cameras as they compete for honours in the first Media Car Racing Championship which would be held at the La Formula One Leisure Centre at Trade Fair Centre, Accra on Saturday, April 6 and on Sunday, April 7.
Mr Ishmael Lamptey, Chief Executive Officer of La Formula One Leisure Centre who announced this in Accra on Friday, said about 30 media houses are expected to participate in the race dubbed 'Formula One Log-On-Go Kate Media Competition'
He said two competitors would represent each media house in the competition, which was aimed at promoting car racing as a sport in the country with an objective of ensuring safety driving. Mr Lamptey said his outfit decided to start with the media personnel since they will be better placed and well informed to testify that car racing was a safe sport.
He said a six-man planning committee has been set up to ensure the successful staging of the competition, adding that it is the hope that prospective sponsors would support the event in its promotional bid. Mr Lamptey meanwhile added that a media briefing on the event would be held on February 6. 15 Jan. 10
