The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwasi Nyantakyi says the competence of members of the new-look technical team of the Black Stars cannot be questioned.
He told Kessben FM that all the members come into the Black Stars backroom staff armed with rich experience, adding that just as the outgoing technical committee members were given an opportunity years ago, it is time to also give another set of individuals the opportunity to serve.
‘All the members appointed to the Black Stars backroom staff are coming into their positions with experiences from other roles over the years. They are no strangers to Ghana football and it is time to give them the opportunity, just as others who were there were also given the chance years ago.’
Nyantakyi extolled the virtues of the new-look Black Stars technical staff, adding that the competence of the new members cannot be questioned.
‘All the new members have demonstrated competence over the years and so they deserve to be there. Kwasi Appiah has progressed since becoming Black Stars assistant coach in 2008. He has been to three tournaments and done well. He has also won gold with the Black Meteors and so he deserves to head the Black Stars technical team. Konadu has achieved so much since he started out at Red Bull Soccer Academy and his exploits are there for all to see. Dr. Baba is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon and he has been with the Black Meteors for a long time, so he is capable of doing the job very well. Sabahn Quaye has paid his dues as team manager for Hearts of Oak, Liberty Professionals and the Black Meteors. So it is not a matter of trial and error. All the members are competent and their competence cannot be questioned.’
Nyantakyi told Kessben FM that it is important for the new Black Stars technical staff to receive the support of all Ghanaians to succeed.
‘With the quality of personnel in the Black Stars technical team, we all have to give them the necessary support and I have no doubt that they will go very far.’
