Nyankayi hits back at Sammy Kuffuor over attack

GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi has hit back at Sammy Kuffuor saying the ex-Bayern Munich star lacks the competence to criticize him over football management.

Kuffuor, 38, launched a stinging pot-shot at the FA chief claiming he lacked ideas to take Ghana football to the next level and wants him to be booted out.

He claimed the country’s astute football administrator should shoulder the blame for the country’s shambolic campaign at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, hence the need for leadership change at the helm of Ghana football.

But the CAF’s Executive Committee member has parried such criticisms and says the former Ghana international is not qualified to criticize him on football management.

“I personally think that Kuffour’s comments are unfortunate and I am sad such a comment came from him,” he told Happy FM

“He has not managed football in any level, yes he has played to the highest level but he has not managed football and he doesn’t have any competence to talk about managing football in the country.”

“Why should he generalize that? He said we are all liars and we lied to the commission when we visited them, that is baseless.”

“It’s a baseless criticism, I like constructive criticism, he should have come out with new ideas, but these kinds of baseless criticisms won’t help anybody, we should be careful.”

There are a number of faceless individuals who are desperate to see the back of Nyantakyi but lack the courage to publicly declare their intention to contest him at next year’s congress.

There have been a grand campaign to smear the growing reputation of the Wa All Stars owner who has endeared himself to the country’s football aficionados.

The delay start of the Ghana Premier League borne out of litigation with King Faisal has been cited as the chief reason for his supposed incompetence despite the modest successes chalked during his tenure.

The Ghana FA will go to congress in 2015 to elect a new leader but no credible opposition has emerged to challenge Nyantakayi’s 10-year reign.
