Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi says the decision to camp the Black Stars in the USA before the World Cup is due to the similar weather conditions and proximity to Brazil.

The Black Stars will begin intensive camping ahead of the tournament on May 25 in Rotterdam.

Ghana is scheduled to play the Netherlands in an international friendly six days later.

The Black Stars will then move camp to the USA where they will be based in Los Angeles.

While in America, Coach Akwasi Appiah’s team will face Costa Rica and Honduras in warm up matches ahead of the commencement of the tournament on June 12.

“The main rationale for us moving [to USA] is for acclimatisation,” the Ghana FA boss told Metro FM.

“Most of the teams are also going to the USA because of the proximity to Brazil” “And therefore if you continue to stay in Europe you may not get strong opponents to play your matches with.”

Ghana is drawn in Group G in the World Cup where the Black Stars will be facing Germany, Portugal and USA.
