European football specialist, Reuben Obodai brings you first installment on how Ghanaian players performed in abroad on Friday and Saturday.

Most of the leagues in abroad have proceeded on break due to the festive season but the few Ghanaians who were in action did thrill their fans with fantastic performances.

Jeffrey Schlupp struck a sucker punch after grabbing the equaliser for Palace as they did the unthinkable by beating defending league champions Manchester City at their own patch.

Lawrence Atu-Zigi was a standout performer for Sochaux on his league debut and capped his game with a clean sheet.

Abednego Tetteh hogged the headlines once again after his lone strike secured a famous win for Real Kashmir at a ground where they have struggled over the past seasons.

ENGLAND

Collin Quaner cameoed for Huddersfield Town when they lost 3-1 at home to Southampton.

Jeffery Schlupp opened the scoring for Crystal Palace when they handed Manchester City their second defeat in the league by winning 3-2. Jordan Ayew cameoed for the victors.

Newcastle United played goalless with Fulham. Christian Atsu played 72 minutes for Newcastle while Dennis Odoi played full throttle full for Fulham.

In the Championship, Andy Yiadom played full throttle for Reading FC when they lost 1-0 to Middlesbrough.

In League One, Blackpool FC lost 1-0 to Barnsley. Joe Dodoo missed the game for the losers through injury.

Tarique Fosu played full throttle and scored for Charlton Athletic when they defeated Gillingham 2-0.

Kwesi Appiah returned from injury to score for AFC Wimbledon when they defeated Wycombe 2-1.

In League Two, Koby Arthur warmed the bench for Macclesfield Town when they played goalless with Port Vale.

Hiram Boateng warmed the bench for Exeter City when they defeated Oldham 3-2.

Cheltenham played goalless with Swindon. Alex Addai played 83 minutes for Cheltenham

In the National League, Dover Athletic lost 2-0 to Barnet. Immanuelson Duku was taken off at half time for the victors while Nortei Nortey played the last 18 minutes for the losers.

Harold Odametey played full throttle and was booked for Maidenhead when they lost 1-0 to Bromley.

Kwame Thomas warmed the bench for Solihull Moors when they got pipped 1-0 by Barrow.

SPAIN

Deportivo Alaves pipped Real Sociedad 1-0 away from home. Mubarak Wakaso played full throttle and was also booked for the victors. Patrick Twumasi was not part of the victor's squad.

Thomas Partey was substituted in the 72nd minute for Atletico Madrid when they won 1-0 against Espanyol.

In the Segunda Division, Baba Iddrisu cameoed for Mallorca when they defeated Gimnastic 2-0.

Isaac Coffie was an 8th-minute substitute for Sporting Gijon when they played goalless with Lugo.

Richard Boateng was a 79th-minute substitute for Real Oviedo and got booked when they played goalless with Malaga.

ITALY

Afriyie Acquah picked a booking for Empoli when they lost 4-2 to Sampdoria.

Kwadwo Asamoah missed Inter Milan 1-1 draw with Chievo Verona through suspension.

Godfred Donsah warmed the bench for Bologna when that played goalless with Parma.

Rahman Chibsah was substituted in the 88th minute after he was booked for Frosinone Calcio when they played out a 1-1 draw with Udinese. Nicholas Opoku was an unused substitute for Udinese.

Kevin-Prince Boateng, Alfred Duncan and Claud Adjapong were all not part of Sassuolo’s team that played a pulsating 1-1 draw with Torino. The latter duo missed the game through injuries.

In the Serie B, Bright Addai lasted 71 minutes for Ascoli when they played a pulsating 1-1 draw with Brescia.

GERMANY

Hans Nunoo Sarpei warmed the bench for VfB Stuttgart when they lost 3-1 at home to Schalke. Baba Rahman did not make the victors' matchday squad.

In the Bundesliga II, David Atanga was a 71st-minute substitute for Greuther Furth when their game ended goalless with Sandhausen.

Inglostadt lost 2-1 to Regensburg. Diawusie Agyemang was excluded from the losers matchday team.

Christopher Avevor played 90 minutes for St. Pauli when they defeated Magdeburg 4-1.

In the Bundesliga III, Daniel-Kofi Kyere played full throttle and scored for Wehen when they defeated Aalen 2-1.

Hansa Rostock lost 2-0 to Energie Cottbus. Kevin Weidlich picked a booking for the victors but played 90 minutes. Phil Ofosu Ayeh and Anton Leander Donkor were not included in the losers match day team.

Bernard Kyere played full throttle and was booked for Fortuna Koln when they won 2-0 against Preussen Munster.

Marvin Menu Braydon played 69 minutes for Hallescher when they defeated Zwickau 2-0.

Eintracht Braunschweig played a pulsating 1-1 draw with Karlsruher. Steffan Nkansah played full throttle for Braunschweig.

FRANCE

Grejohn Kyei was a 62nd-minute substitute for RC Lens when they lost 2-1 to AC Ajaccio.

Lawrence Ati Zigi kept a clean sheet on his first start of the campaign for Sochaux when they pipped Lorient 1-0 at home.

THE NETHERLANDS

Cody Gakpo scored and provided an assist for Jong PSV before being substituted in the 62nd minute. They defeated Almere City 5-2 on Friday in the Eerste Division. Kevin Luckassen warmed the bench for the losers.

Gakpo also cameoed for the senior side in their 3-1 win over AZ Alkmaar on Saturday. Myron Boadu missed the game for the losers through injury.

Antwi Rodney was substituted in the 88th minute for FC Volendam when they defeated Telstar 1-0.

BELGIUM

Odjidja Ofoe Vardis was in blistering form for KAA Gent as he scored and recorded two assists when they thrashed Cercle Brugge 4-1. Nana Asare also played full throttle for the victors.

Samuel Asamoah played full throttle for St. Truiden while Bernard Kumordzi returned from injury to play 72 minutes for KV Kortrijk when the two sides played out a goalless draw.

Nana Opoku Ampomah scored for Waasland Beveren when they defeated Sporting Lokeren 2-1. He was substituted in the 78th minute.

Jeremy Doku replaced Francis Amuzu in the 69th minutes for RSC Anderlecht when they lost 3-1 to Mouscron. Dennis Appiah warmed the bench for the losers but there was no place for Dauda Mohammed in their matchday squad.

In the Proximus League, Devine Naah played full throttle Tubize when they lost 3-1 to KV Mechelen. Ernest Agyiri warmed bench for the losers.

Kamal Sowah missed OH Leuven goalless draw with Westerlo through injury.

INDIA

Abedenego Tetteh scored the only goal of the match for Real Kashmir when they piped Chennai City 1-0.

PORTUGAL

Emmanuel Hackman warmed the bench for Portimonense when they lost 1-0 to Feirense.

In the Liga NOS 2, Abdul Aziz played full throttle for Guimaraes B when they played a 2-2 draw with Arouca.

ROMANIA

Richard Gadze played full throttle for Voluntari when they played a 2-2 draw with Poli Lasi. Lawson Bekui played the last 26 minutes for Poli Lasi.

Joseph Mensah was a 77th-minute substitute for Sepsi when they defeated Concordia 3-0.

SCOTLAND

Danny Amankwah returned from injury to warm the bench for Hearts of Midlothian when they lost 2-0 to Aberdeen.

Lenard Sowah played 49 minutes for Harmilton against Kilmarnock. The game ended 1-1.

Hibernian drew 1-1 with Livingston. Thomas Agyepong missed the match for Hibs through injury.

SOUTH AFRICA

Samuel Darpoh warmed the bench for Amazulu when they defeated Golden Arrows 2-0.

Cape Town City beat Bloemfontein Celtic 3-2. Nana Akosah Bempah was not included in the victors matchday squad.

Richard Ofori played 90 minutes for Maritzburg United when they lost 1-0 to Baroka.

TURKEY

Isaac Sackey was substituted at halftime for Alanyaspor while Joseph Attamah was a second-half substitute for Istanbul Basaksehir. The game ended in a 1-1 stalemate

In the Liga 2, Istanbulspor lost 1-0 to Denizlispor. Jerry Akaminko was not part of the losers matchday team.
