Accra, Aug. 6, GNA - The State Insurance Company (SIC) on Friday became the latest corporate body to donate to Ghana's contingent to this year's Olympic games in Athens, which commences next Wednesday. The company presented a cheque for 20 million cedis plus a 500 million-cedis insurance cover for the officials for the two-and-half week tournament.

Mr Peter Osei Duah, Managing Director of SIC, presented the checque to the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and recounted the company's support to sports over the years and expressed optimism of that it would continue.

He was hopeful that although Ghana was participating in only soccer and athletics out of the 35 disciplines, she would be able win enough medals to commensurate both the team's effort and money spent on them. Dr. Deborah Cubagee, Second Vice President of the GOC, expressed her appreciation for the support adding that Ghanaians would not be disappointed.
