Sadio Mane is the best in Africa currently - Michael Essien

Former Ghana and Chelsea midfielder, Michael Essien has chosen Senegal and Liverpool star Sadio Mane as the best African player currently.

The 25-year-old has been one of the best players in the English Premier League.

The Liverpool man finished behind teammate Mohamed Salah in last year’s Africa Footballer of the year award.

However, the Senegalese hitman remains Essien’s favourite African player currently.

“I think Mane, he was fantastic last season and yes he is doing well so far this year as well so am going for him,” he said in an interview with CheekySport.
