After Pocketing GH¢ 10,000
ACCRA Hearts of Oak's hopes of including goalkeeper Sammy Adjei in their squad for the league competition has fizzled into thin air after the former national goalkeeper reportedly pocketed GH 10, 000 and turned his back on the club. Very credible sources hinted 90 Minutes that after shaking hands on a GH 10,000 from Hearts with assurances of joining the squad, the 2000 Champions League winning keeper has suddenly gone back on his words and swerved the Phobians.
A member of the Hearts management revealed to this paper: “Sammy has collected GH 10,000 from us but has refused to join the team in training though the agreement between us was very clear and simple. We respected him when he gave us his word so we are quite surprised that he has decided not to show up contrary to what was discussed,” he continued. “It is true that we owed him some money but we both came to a consensus on how to settle that amount so it sounds strange to see him treat us this way,” he added.
On his part, Sammy Adjei has told 90 Minutes that he will only play for Hearts if all his demands are met because the money he took from them only represented what was already owed him. “I have made my propositions quite clear to Hearts and will only join them if they respect it. The club owed me the same amount so if they have given it to me, what stops me from taking my own decision on which direction to go,” he queried.
