Stephen Appiah can do a lot for Football – Tony Baffoe

Former Ghana international Tony Baffoe says he is optimistic retired Ghanaian footballer Stephen Appiah can do a lot for the sport.

In an interview with Kasapa Sports, Baffoe, a member of the 1992 Ghana team that lost to Ivory Coast in the Nations Cup finals said Appiah had some unique career propositions that should sit well with a general plan of getting him to the top of football management.

“Stephen is somebody who is fortunate because he has played with a lot of big clubs. I told him go back to Juventus, look at the structure, look at their youth football, look into management, look into administration and take a decision.

“And I believe he can add a lot to football especially grassroots development.

“There is no elevator to success after life after football; you have to take the stairs. You have to plan for the future. And I think it is very important you study as well as know the practical.

“It is always important; you need good people around you. Sammy Kufour is a good example. He didn’t go to school, but he was determined so he went to the University of life.”

Appiah’s end to a beautiful two-decade career was honoured with a testimonial of some of the biggest football stars in the world in Accra last weekend.
