Legendary ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has been named to join the Black Stars backroom staff to inspire the players at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi confirmed the appointment during a press conference in Accra on Monday as the Black Stars plans for the tournament were unveiled.
Also joining the backroom staff at the World Cup is coach Sam Arday, expected to boost the technical department of the team following a request by coach Kwesi Appiah.
Nyantakyi revealed that all the other areas of the backroom staff will be boosted as the Black Stars seek to gain excellence at the tournament in Brazil.
Stephen Appiah, whose inspirational qualities helped Ghana to quality for its first two World Cup appearances, is expected to provide some inspiration for the boys as they fight for laurels for the country.
Arday will help coach Appiah in planning strategies to outwit their opponents in the tough Group G of the World Cup where they face Germany, Portugal and the USA.
